Make the house a home

Every piece in LifeLong is our own 3D model, made by hand in Blender. The game pauses while you build and shop, and sells anything back for half.

Build mode

Drag out a room or a single wall, click a wall for a door or a window, drag along walls to knock them down for half back, and lay floors and wallpaper room by room. Walls block the way, so a room with no door is shut off, just like you'd expect. Add stairs to build up to three storeys, and switch the roof on to see the whole house.

Every home can also have up to three lot traits, picked for free:

  • 🏡 Homey: Everyone at home feels a little happier.
  • 💘 Romantic aura: Love is in the air: feeling flirty comes easily.
  • 👩‍🍳 Chef's kitchen: Cooking catches fire half as often.
  • 🌱 Great soil: Gardens grow half as fast again.
  • ✨ On ley lines: Skills come a quarter faster.
  • 🌤️ Sunny aspect: Bright by day: everyone's a little happier while the sun's up.
  • 🧸 Child's play: Children pick up skills half as fast again.
  • 🏠 Tiny home living: Bills come to half as much.
  • 👹 Gremlins: Things break twice as often. A challenge.
  • 😠 Mean vibes: Something in the walls puts everyone on edge. A challenge.
  • 👻 Haunted: Ghosts rise from their graves twice as often.

Buy mode

Shop by what it's for: beds, seating, surfaces, appliances, plumbing, electronics, hobbies, kids, pets, outdoors, decor and lighting. Each card shows the price and the needs it fills.

Anything useful comes three ways. Budget is 60% of the price but slower and breaks more. Luxury costs two and a half times as much, works faster, rarely breaks and leaves people feeling pampered. A home full of nice things lifts everyone's mood.

Things break, and worse

Showers, toilets, stoves and treadmills give out now and then, and a leaky toilet leaves a puddle to mop. Fix them yourself and learn Handiness (mind the shocks at low levels), or call a repair person for $50. A smoke alarm and a burglar alarm call for help when you need it.
